ABOUT US

Mobilization center for empowerment and development (MOCED) is an integrated community-based organization geared towards empowering communities to sustainable access livelihood, social amenities and social dignity. The organization has activities in Kuresoi of Nakuru and Nyandarua County Kenya and works with youth groups, Women groups, schools and rural community.

The history of MOCED goes way back to 2003 when it was the dream of Baraka Agricultural College past students after undergoing a course in Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development, decided to help and work with community Youth and adults mainly to empower them on issues of Governance and human rights, Promote coexistence among the warring communities which has been a hot spot for ethnic and land clashes, environmental conservation, Sustainable Agriculture, Community health including HIV/AIDS . This is meant to expand their educational and marketing skills for sustainable livelihoods and brighter future. The dream remained in mind until the year 2006 where it was registered as a youth group and later elevated to a  Community-based organization(CBO) in 2011.The group has experienced challenges due to recurrent post-election violence in Kuresoi region destabilizing the group progress to meet its targets than it could be.

Due to the infamous 2007/08 post-election violence in Kenya, Kuresoi area was adversely affected displacing thousands of people. Nyandarua County  acted as a safe haven hosting a large number of IDPs. Bearing in mind that, most of the communities working with MOCED had been displaced hence the need to expand the catchment area to respond to their needs.

The group thought of encouraging young people and community members of another leadership style i.e. one of being the stewards of the people. You serve the people in many other ways and you become servant leader!, since 2006 MOCED has brought forth stakeholders, who work with communities on food security projects, simple water harvesting technologies, energy conservation, environmental conservation, encouraging use of locally available resources and making sure that several children attend and are retained in schools. The CBO has also empowered youth to form youth groups, as well as self help groups to realize their full potential and also is at high gear towards empowering communities on Constitution which emphasis on community participation at all levels of governance more so on devolution.

MOCED‘s goals include growing the capacities of our community leaders, helping them to effectively manage community projects and mentor entrepreneurship.  The group endeavors to conserve their environment for to day and future generation.  At our Office, we provides information on relevant and various topical issues that range from HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, water and sanitation, Community health, Low cost food production methods, Environmental conservation and rehabilitation, value addition,  marketing and human rights.

The CBO has always been working with local organized groups and collaborators but looking forward for other like minded partners who are willing and ready to work with us.
